More Skills to improve your Reading score

Moving forward towards our objective of improving Reading score and achieving high in the Reading module of IELTS, I Arunlata is again here with Achievers 9 Bands. Achievers 9 Bands is regularly serving students to improve IELTS band score.

Let’s come to some specific skills to improve our scores. Today I will emphasize more on Reading

Fill-ups in IELTS Reading (Academics / General).

  1. INSTRUCTIONS: Overlooking the instructions purposely/non-purposely may result into wrong answers and can also lead to more time consumption. Before actually beginning reading, a student must focus on the style of attempting the ‘Fill in the blanks’ section of IELTS reading task. There may be various patterns of types of instructions. Few of them can be exemplified as below:
    • Look at the passage ‘ABC’ and answer questions 1-5 by using ‘NO MORE THAN ONE WORD’ in your answer sheet.
  • Look at the passage ‘ABC’ and complete the sentences below by using ‘NO MORE THAN THREE WORDS AND/OR A NUMBER’.
  • Read paragraph 5 from the text ‘ABC’ and answer the questions 1-5 by writing ‘NO MORE THAN TWO WORDS’ in your answer sheet.
  • Complete the sentences 1-5 by choosing the most suitable answers from the LIST OF WORDS given below.  (Here you have to choose synonyms of words given in the passage).
    1. ORDER OF INFORMATION:  In IELTS reading, ‘Fill the gaps’ are the types of questions that come in a chronological order. Location of answer number 3 cannot come after answer 4. Therefore, in case you find the answer of question 2 in paragraph 2, it is more likely to find the answer of 3 in the same or next paragraphs.
    2. GRAMMAR: The students must pay attention to the grammatical form of the answer. For instance: you found the answer of a question as ‘Convenient policies’. The question asked is ‘At the end of 20th century, women could work with much freedom since the government introduced laws having convenience for this section of society.  Here, grammar demanded noun form but the passage contains the word convenient which is an adjective. Therefore, folks finding the answer may get tangled at grammar skills.

So dear all, I hope the concepts are quite clear to you but you need to practice more and more in order to perform the best in your upcoming test.
